Supervisor, Engineering - Flowserve (Cookeville, TN)

Summary: This role is responsible for managing the Engineering Services design team & special projects to ensure accurate and expedient resolution to technical design needs. This includes ensuring design engineering support for daily sales orders and new product development, providing technical support for sales quotations and customer inquiries. The candidate will be forward looking and drive a culture of continual improvement. This candidate will heavily utilize Oracle ERP and Windchill PDM in daily activities.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree + experience.

Experience/Requirements:

*1-3 years experience in valve design or related field.

*Experience with castings, forgings and machining operations.

*Knowledge of various materials, especially grades of steel and other alloys.

*Understanding of various International Standards relating to valves preferred.

*Powerful self-driven work ethic, willing to work extended hours as needed.

*Proficient with Oracle ERP and Windchill PDM systems preferred.

*Experience in a manufacturing environment, working with machinists, fabricators and assemblers.

Skills:

*Ability to use engineering design and analysis tools, as well as Microsoft Office software and other productivity tools.

*Understanding of AutoCAD 2-D drafting and Inventor 3D solid modeling.

*Excellent communications skills with ability to manage project teams.

*Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent problem solving abilities.

*Strong interpersonal, communication, decision making and problem solving skills.

*Must be proficient with all Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.

Job Functions:

*Manage the Engineering Services design team to ensure accurate and expedient resolution to technical design needs.

*Review and manage special projects and design modifications within the Engineering team such as design enhancements and modifications to meet customer needs

*Coordinate with colleagues at the design center in India to ensure design needs are being met

*Drive a culture of continual improvement within the team through both technological and personal improvements.

*Lead the effective implementation of a Product Data Management system through collaboration on a multi-national, corporate team. Provide site technical administrative support after go-live.

*Keep abreast of emerging market technologies and look for ways to improve and streamline department processes.

*Drive and participate in process improvements within the engineering department in an effort to meet departmental metric goals, including but not limited to product design, bills of material, drawing throughput, engineering change releases, corrective action request closure rates, and design and bills of material error rates.
